Gandhiji would definitely have been a political force today, but with a difference. With his unique style, extraordinary qualities and character,he would have stood apart and would have been a force to reckon with. Unlike majority of today’s politicians,Gandhiji had great virtues like honesty, simplicity with sincerity and truth. He practised what he preached, led from front and had a positive influence on people. He was leader of the masses, had strong motivational power but was never hungry for power. The strategy of non-violence, non-cooperation and satyagraha during his time could be adapted in today’s life and it would yield the same results that he achieved at that time. The reason is that today’s India is in a state of political turmoil, despite the fact that economically it has progressed. There is dearth of right guidance for the masses to achieve “freedom for modern India that is freedom from corruption, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy.” The need of the hour is a mass movement, initiated and taken forward by a person like Gandhiji. He would also require the likes of Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpatrai, not to forget the modern day Munnabhai. |
